WHAT IS CODE FOR THE KINGDOM?
Code for the Kingdom is a weekend hackathon and ongoing ecosystem where global issues are tackled from a Christian perspective. It's a movement that ignites the Christian passion and purpose within technologists and entrepreneurs to innovate culture shaping technologies that will reclaim our times for the Gospel.
This second Global Code for the Kingdom hackahton builds upon the success of the 2015 Global hackathon and previous regional hackathons, which have already gathered over 3500 technologists to create over 330 projects to do good. This largest ever global faith-inspired tech collaboration will continue to activate technologists and other creative people to give their skills and some time as their contribution to the mission field, and it will also leverage the skills and in- sights of entrepreneurs, designers, and technologists to foster an entrepreneurial culture with Christian values. We expect over 1,000 innovators to participate and address a number of challenges aimed at helping release the oppressed, teaching God’s Word, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and supporting the church and the body of Christ.

Challenge to Solve (to be revealed on Oct 17)
Each year, the Philippines is sending out more than a million to work abroad through its overseas employment program. Every hour, some 100 migrant workers leave the Philippines. Overseas Filipinos are typically known to be as doctors, accountants, IT professionals, engineers, technicians, entertainers, teachers, nurses, seamen, military servicemen, domestic helpers and caregivers.
This staggering number brought positive and negative effects in the lives of the Filipinos and of the country in general. Some of the challenges faced by Filipino migrant/expatriate workers are common to anyone who works overseas: lack of security if lacking permanent residence, sometimes disadvantageous foreign exchange rates when sending money back home, vulnerability to abuse by employers.
In line with this, local C4TK organizers decided to make OFW Challenges as the central focus for this year’s hackathon.
